devastating the photo albums
with blonde shoulders
in the yellow southern light
of European summer
against bare mountains
rocking into gullies
and great peaks,
caught smiling,
and the primary colours
of her cheekbones
and her hair flopping
straight down;
she is dot-pointing dreams now,
she is now ticking off intentions,
and, between us,
there will surely be
a summer ride taken
when summer comes
back again,
back again
to the right side of our world
